Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Metal Arms: Glitch In The System for the Nintendo GameCube developed by Swingin’ Ape Studios and published by Sierra Entertainment.

If WALL-E had been armed with weapons of mass destruction, he would’ve been a lot like Glitch. Metal Arms: Glitch In The System tells Glitch’s story, a tale of cute droids and heavy explosives. This combat-heavy plays like a third-person shooter set in a Nintendo 64 platformer. Glitch has access to laser beams, gatling guns, rocket launchers and more explosive weaponry than you’d expect from any cutesy robot. In fact, one of the coolest element of the game is the contrast between its character and content. It’s not every day you see such adorable robots trying to blow each other to pieces. This is an impressive-looking GameCube game, as well, and a reminder of how powerful that system really was. If you like games like Ratchet and Clank and Battalion Wars, this character-rich shooter is for you. Metal Arms: Glitch In The System features single and local multiplayer play.

This video review features video gameplay footage of Metal Arms: Glitch In The System for the Nintendo GameCube and audio commentary from Classic Game Room’s Derek.

  1. Loved playing this game as a kid, but playing it nowadays is a bit difficult with the controls and framerate

  2. Really love your guys laid-back and satiric but always honest and absolutely authentic voice-over reviews. This one and the nostalgia-fueled comments beneath made me get it for the 1st time in 2018. Old times rules!

  3. There's currently a team working on a multiplayer remake of this game, if interested look them up on facebook and they have a discord too

  4. Once you get them hacking grenades shit gets real fun. Just take over literal leagues of enemies and bring them with you so much fun!

  5. This review doesn't begin to do the game justice. The controls might be loose, and it looks like garbage, but the game gives you many ways to dominate through the levels. And it always felt balanced. Just got out my old xbox disc, as the woman bought me an original xbox to play my old games on. Cannot wait to load this baby up!!

  6. I'm sorry but

Did you just call these bots of destruction CUTE?

Boi, they ain't cute, THEY'RE FREAKIN BADASS… this isn't a salty or aggressive comment it's more of the joke type

  7. this game is the fucking bomb. beautiful graphics. fun gameplay. awesome characters and voice acting

  8. This was good for it's time on the original xbox. It wasn't very memorable in story and didn't stand out like let's say MDK2. If you liked this a lot play Scrapland.

  9. Just bought the GameCube version of this today at the Portland retro gaming expo. Excited to try it out. Thanks for the review.

  10. I just want to say this game had one of the coolest weapons ever, the control tether. this game would be just a good game without the control tether, but this is such a good weapon it had its own level to teach you how to use it. I would have playthrough on this game using only the control tether once I got it.

  11. They need to make a sequel I just recently played it best game as a child and will always be the best game I have ever played

  12. Super underrated game, fun gameplay, pretty good graphics, good controls and the story and characters are very entertaining! I'm so glad you did a review of this gem, it's super fun.
